    Description

    You can dig deep in your research but I will save you the trouble.  This distinctly Southern pottery piece appears on page 165 of your Niloak Encyclopedia.  It's distinct shape is attributed to Muscle Shoals' Spruce Pine Pottery.  There is a lot of inter-connection between Camark, Niloak, and the Muscle Shoals potters and I lean towards Hy-Long as the maker.  This piece has a deep matte blue glaze with mottling and textured drips.  It has a couple of tiny glaze nicks at the base.  Measuring 8.25" tall and 4.75" wide, this vase remains free of large chips, cracks or repair.  Fine, age related crazing has developed but it is visible only at close range under intense light.  There are a couple of small silver scuffs to the matte glaze here and there.  Please see all of the photos as they are a big part of the description.
