Description
The ALICE system was the final standard issue "web gear" of the US military. It evolved from the M1967 and LINCLOE (see my other listings) gear and was used by American forces after Vietnam, through the end of the Cold War and into the early War on Terror.
The main difference between these LC-1 pouches and the LINCLOE ones are that there are no flaps in the ALICE pouches.
The retaining flaps got in the way of magazine removal.
There are some dividing ribbons in the pouches which were sometimes removed, though not in this case.
As far as I can tell, unlike the LINCLOE pouches that were photographed in use in 1975 during Operation Frequent Wind and the Mayaguez incident, no LC-1 ALICE gear was used in Vietnam, but it was extensively used afterwards.
Other than US military use, some of these pouches can be seen in (staged) photos of American mercenaries in Rhodesia published in outlets like Soldier of Fortune magazine (last picture is the American Bounty Hunter David McGrady recounting his time in Rhodesia on a 1981 dated magazine).
You will receive exactly the set of two pouches shown in the pictures.
They are in very good condition for their age and were used.
The pouches are slightly faded but fully functional with readable stamps.
These are both dated to 1974, and have slightly different shades of green like most nylon webbing from the Vietnam era.
This item would be perfect for a Vietnam militaria collection, or for reenactment.
Please see my other listings for more awesome militaria items, including some from the same era that would go perfect with these pouches.
